Solis Grind & Infuse Espresso Machine Review — Semi-Automatic with Review

For home baristas seeking a single-machine solution that combines grinding and brewing with precision, the Solis Grind & Infuse Espresso Machine enters the scene as a compelling option. This semi-automatic espresso machine features a built-in conical burr grinder, adaptive PID temperature control, and a 2.6-liter water tank. It aims to deliver cafe-quality shots without the need for separate equipment. With its 54mm professional portafilter and zero static technology, it reduces mess and improves workflow. While the machine has received mixed reviews regarding long-term durability, many users praise its consistent output and solid build. This review examines its features, performance, and value for prospective buyers.

Product Overview

Stepping into the world of home espresso can be overwhelming, but the Solis Grind & Infuse simplifies the process by integrating a grinder and espresso maker into one unit. The machine accepts whole beans and grinds them directly into the portafilter, minimizing steps and preserving freshness. Its 2.6-liter water reservoir is generous for multiple drinks before refilling, and the stainless steel construction with matte black finish gives it a sleek, modern look. The semi-automatic operation means you control the shot timing, while programmable settings for grind amount and shot volume allow customization. The included tamper feels solid and heavy, aiding in even tamping. Maintenance involves regular cleaning of the grinder and backflushing, which reviewers found straightforward. The machine also includes a water filter to reduce scale buildup. Though the drip tray has a slight looseness reported by some, it is functional. Overall, the Solis Grind & Infuse is designed for enthusiasts who want control without clutter, but potential buyers should consider its reliability track record.

Build & Materials

The Solis Grind & Infuse is built with a stainless steel chassis and a matte black exterior that resists fingerprints and looks understated on any countertop. The 54mm portafilter is heavy and well-machined, giving a tactile sense of quality. The included tamper is notably solid, matching the portafilter's diameter precisely for even tamping. The water tank is plastic but feels durable, and its generous 2.6-liter capacity reduces refill frequency. The drip tray is removable and has a plastic insert, though some users note it can be slightly loose. The machine's footprint is moderate, fitting well under standard cabinets. Overall, the external build inspires confidence, but internal reliability is questioned by some long-term users.

The Verdict

6

The Solis Grind & Infuse offers a well-integrated grinding and brewing experience with features like PID control and zero static technology that appeal to coffee enthusiasts. Its build quality feels robust, and the included accessories are solid. However, reliability concerns from a single long-term review cannot be ignored; a $500 machine should ideally last longer than two years. For those willing to take a chance, the machine delivers excellent shots when working. But cautious buyers may prefer a more proven brand with a stronger warranty and support network.

What You Pay

$519 at full price

For the features, the price is competitive with other semi-automatic machines with built-in grinders. However, potential reliability issues reduce long-term value. If the machine lasts 5+ years, it's a good deal; if not, it's expensive.
The Solis Grind & Infuse makes great espresso when it works, but reliability concerns cast doubt on its long-term value.

Failed after two years of use
I loved this machine while it lasted, but it stopped working on its second anniversary. Cons: the water filter doesn't stay put (not a big deal since we didn't use it), and the drip tray is a bit loose (manageable). Pros: solid build, nice portafilter and tamper, consistent coffee after dialing in the grinder, clear manual, easy maintenance. During descaling, it tripped a GFI outlet. After drying for two days, it still tripped the GFI, and when plugged into a non-GFI outlet, it smelled like burning. For $500, I expected more than two years. It feels sturdy and worked well, but internal electrical failure turned it into trash. It's disappointing for a product advertised as 'Swiss Quality Products.' At least we got a good tamper and portafilter. Note: This review is not about Whole Latte Love; we bought it from Amazon in Dec 2023.
In Love with My First Espresso Machine
After extensive research, mainly watching European reviews, I decided to buy this espresso machine and I'm thrilled. With some YouTube tutorials on dialing in, I've been pulling amazing shots. The grinder is espresso-focused, so it should serve me well as I explore different beans. I've gone accessory-crazy and made lattes, iced lattes, and more. It's a great gateway into the hobby with PID, programmable shots and grinder, and a built-in manometer. No mods needed. Just buy it—you won't regret it.
