Spacekey CM5510 Espresso Machine Review — All-in-One with Built-In Review

For coffee enthusiasts who want fresh espresso without the clutter of separate appliances, the Spacekey CM5510 merges a conical burr grinder, a 20-bar pump, and a steam wand into one compact unit. It is designed for both beginners and experienced home baristas who value control over grind size, extraction temperature, and milk texture. The machine also offers a dedicated cold brew function, expanding its versatility beyond traditional espresso drinks. With a 30-setting grinder, PID temperature control, and a removable 61oz water tank, it aims to deliver café-quality results on a kitchen counter. Whether you are pulling a morning shot or crafting an iced latte, the CM5510 provides the essential tools without demanding a large footprint or a big budget.

Product Overview

The Spacekey CM5510 is a semi-automatic espresso machine with a built-in conical burr grinder, eliminating the need for a separate grinder. It operates with a 1350W motor and a 20-bar high-pressure pump, supported by PID technology for temperature stability. The machine includes a pre-infusion function that allows the coffee to bloom before full extraction, which can enhance flavor. The grinder offers 30 adjustable settings, from fine to coarse, to accommodate different roast levels and brew methods. A dedicated cold brew function uses room-temperature water over an extended period to produce smooth, low-acid coffee concentrate. The steam wand is capable of frothing milk for lattes, cappuccinos, and flat whites, and it can also dispense hot water for tea or Americanos. The machine measures 12 inches deep, 10 inches wide, and 14 inches tall, making it compact enough for most kitchens. The 1.8-liter (61oz) water tank is removable, and the drip tray is easy to empty and clean. The included accessories—a 51mm portafilter, single and double shot baskets, a solid wood tamper, a dosing ring, and a spoon—cover the basics. Users should note that the machine does not grind and brew automatically; you must transfer grounds from the grinder to the portafilter. Several reviewers mention a wet puck after extraction, which can be messy to remove. Despite this, the overall sentiment is that the machine delivers good espresso for its price point.

Build & Materials

The Spacekey CM5510 uses a combination of plastic and metal components. The main housing is plastic with a brushed metal front panel, giving it a modern look that blends with most kitchen decor. The 51mm portafilter is chrome-plated brass, a common choice that balances heat retention and durability. The conical burr grinder features a stainless steel burr set, which is resistant to wear and provides consistent particle size. The water tank is translucent plastic, allowing you to see the water level easily. The steam wand is made of stainless steel with a single hole tip, sufficient for home milk frothing.

The machine’s layout is straightforward. The grinder is integrated into the top left, with a hopper that holds enough beans for several shots. The adjustable grind dial is accessible and clicks into 30 steps. The brew group is on the right, and the steam wand sits centrally. The LCD display is clear and shows temperature, shot timer, and settings. The drip tray is removable and has a float indicator that pops up when full. Cleaning is basic: the water tank, drip tray, and steam wand are easy to rinse; the portafilter and baskets can be soaked. The grinder’s anti-clog system reduces jams, but regular cleaning of the burrs is recommended.

Shot Quality

In terms of extraction, the Spacekey CM5510 produces consistent results when properly dialed in. The PID temperature control keeps water temperature stable, which helps avoid bitter or sour shots. The pre-infusion briefly wets the puck at low pressure, allowing gases to escape for a more even extraction. Most users report that after some experimentation with grind settings and dose, they can achieve shots with good crema and flavor. The 20-bar pump pushes water through the coffee with enough force to extract oils and solids effectively.

However, several reviewers note a wet puck after brewing, meaning the water does not fully exit the filter basket. This can cause the puck to be soggy and difficult to knock out cleanly. The steam wand works adequately but may produce bubbles rather than fine microfoam until the user develops proper technique. The cold brew function yields a smooth concentrate that can be diluted to taste. The grinder, while effective, may require a few tries to find the optimal setting for a given bean. Overall, the machine delivers performance that rivals many machines in its price range, though it lacks the automation of pricier models.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use pre-ground coffee with this machine?
The machine is designed primarily for whole beans, but you can bypass the grinder and use pre-ground coffee if you set the grind to 'off' (some models have a bypass dose). Check the manual for instructions.
How do I clean the grinder?
Remove the hopper and use a brush to clear any residual grounds. You can also run a grind of cleaning pellets occasionally to remove oil buildup.
Why is my coffee puck wet?
A wet puck can be caused by too fine a grind, over-tamping, or insufficient pressure. Adjust the grind setting coarser or reduce the dose slightly. Ensure you are using the correct basket size.
Does the machine have a hot water dispenser?
Yes, the steam wand can be used to dispense hot water by activating it without the steam button (check manual). Some models have a separate hot water button.
How long does the cold brew take?
The cold brew function runs for about 20-30 minutes to produce a concentrate. You can then store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
What is the warranty on the Spacekey CM5510?
Spacekey offers a one-year limited warranty and lifetime customer support. Contact them within 24 hours for issues with grinding or steam.
Can I adjust the temperature?
The PID maintains a stable temperature, but there is no user-adjustable temperature setting mentioned. The default is optimized for espresso extraction.

Excellent coffee maker, highly recommend trying it!
I've had this machine for about two weeks now and have thoroughly enjoyed using it, as well as the coffee it produces. Despite including a grinder, it's quite compact. The grinder works great and allows you to select the grind size. Overall, my coffee station is much tidier than before, when I had separate grinder and espresso machine and had to move grounds between them. I sincerely hope this machine lasts and continues to perform as well as it has.
Performs well with minor quirks
The machine performs well overall. The grinder requires some adjustment to get right, and the double shot puck tends to be rather wet. The steamer functions without any problems. It's a good value for the purchase.
Too Many Steps for a Lazy American
We decided to return this machine. Its price is similar to those that grind and brew automatically, but with this one, you need to manually handle the grinding and extracting. That's not what we wanted. We want barista-quality coffee without becoming baristas ourselves. We're just being honest. We'll keep reading reviews until we find a machine that meets our needs, regardless of cost. I'm posting this review to warn others. It's a good machine, but it's priced like ones that do much more.
